Before applying, please ensure that your PC is equipped with the following minimum configuration:
Computer
- 128 MB RAM. Macintosh is not compatible with our platform.
- Broadband internet connection. For example, Satellite, DSL, or Cable. Dial-up and high speed dial-up are not recommended.
- Windows 98 SE, ME, NT4, 2000, XP or Vista. Windows Vista is compatible with our platform.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or above. Proprietary browsers (e.g. Netscape, AOL, Earthlink, Mozilla, Opera, etc.) do not support Active X that DocQscribe uses.
- Remove all joystick-requiring games from your PC before installing DocQscribe.
- Headphones or speakers.
- At least 10 MB of free space on the hard drive.
Security
- Antivirus program with all updates. An example is AVG. You can download it free from download.com.
- Firewall. If you are using Windows XP, it has a built in firewall. An alternative, Zonealarm, is freely available from download.com.
- Antispyware. For example, Ad Aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy are freely available from download.com.
- Email account. Email is the main way that AccuScribe communicates with its transcriptionists and staff.
- AOL email accounts frequently block email communication from AccuScribe. If you have an AOL account, you will need to set up an alternate email for communicating with us.
- AccuScribe email addresses are available upon request.
